Racing Addiction - The Story of Indycar Driver Salt Walther's Life Long Battle with Addiction

David "Salt" Walther was a racer who is the only driver in history to have raced Unlimited Hydroplane boats, Indycars and NASCAR. He died December 27, 2012 from an accidental drug overdose.

Born in Dayton, Ohio to George and Patt Walther he went on to race in 64 combined starts and is best know for the fiery crash at the start of 1973 Indianapolis 500. Salt by his own words said he should not have survived the crash but did and became addicted to opioids or pain killers as they were know in that time.
